BIOGRAPHY
Penny Adams

I was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee and at a young age decided to pursue a professional career in photography. Behind the camera, I have one simple rule...always strive to capture the true spirit of the subject. Listen to your subject, whether it's a person or a sunset...wait until the ideal moment to capture the scene at the pinnacle of wonderful. Sometimes the clues for finding the unexpected can be very subtle. If you also listen to your instinct, you'll discover that split second of an unguarded smile, see past the darkness to capture the beautiful colors of twilight and recognize the opportunity that can make an image stand out from the rest. Camera equipment doesn't define the artist, only imagination, patience and the passion for quality do.

Over the course of 23 years, I have captured memories for yearbooks, weddings, and posed thousands of portraits of cowboys, soldiers and Southern belles all across the country in amusement parks. I served on the board, lectured seminars and received numerous awards for the Antique and Amusement Photographers International (A.A.P.I.) I attended and graduated from the College for Creative Studies (C.C.S.) in Detroit, Michigan. During the 1990's, I embraced digital photography as a means to efficiently capture and replicate subjects much more accurately to my vision than what the traditional darkroom would allow.

Since moving to California in 2000, I have very much enjoyed the opportunity to expand my portfolio with landscape and travel images. Many images are represented by Alamy and Superstock, Inc. When I'm not behind the camera, I play soccer and serve as the photo editor for the gallery section of Webshots.com. Though much of my work was scanned from 35mm slides, currently I shoot with a 16.7 megapixel Canon 1ds Mark II.
